The Brief
Public Counsel, a nonprofit public interest law firm, had recently undergone a brand refresh that gave its identity a more contemporary look and feel. The organization as a whole was still getting up to speed with the new system while internal teams continued to produce reports, resources, and outreach materials using a mix of old and new branding. The challenge was to create a more cohesive visual language while developing the flexibility, systems, and applications needed to support the organization’s various teams, audiences, and areas of work.
My Direction
Using Public Counsel’s existing brand guidelines as a foundation, I’ve helped develop a flexible visual language that works across a wide range of communications. Working closely with the organization’s communications team, I apply and extend the branding system as new needs arise, shaping visual approaches and templates through real-world use.
My work spans information-rich publications, multilingual resources, community outreach, and events. Across all of it, I look for ways to make complex and critical information clear and approachable while keeping Public Counsel’s communications connected and recognizable.
The Result
A Brand That Works in Practice: The original brand guidelines have been translated into a working system that accommodates the realities of Public Counsel’s day-to-day communications.
Greater Organization-wide Consistency: Teams now have a clearer, more unified visual framework for producing flexible yet consistent materials across initiatives and audiences.
An Evolving Visual System: The brand continues to develop through ongoing application, with new solutions emerging as Public Counsel’s communications needs change.
